Volodin clinched his third national title, previously winning Estonia&#8217;s 2018 and 2021 National Championships. The 7th seed of the event<strong> Andrei Timoshin<\/strong> impressed with a fantastic performance as he scored 6.5 points, without a loss at the Championship. Timoshin earned 71.4 ELO points and claimed the silver medal thanks to better tiebreaks than the top-seeded<strong> GM Kaido Kulaots <\/strong>who had the same score of 6.5 points but finished third.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"449\" src=\"https:\/\/chess.mensch.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Aleksandr-Volodin.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chess.mensch.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Aleksandr-Volodin.webp 720w, https:\/\/chess.mensch.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Aleksandr-Volodin-300x187.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>GM Aleksandr Volodin clinches his third national title<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>WFM Anastassia Sinitsina<\/strong> defended the 2021 title winning the Estonian Women&#8217;s Chess Championship 2022 with 3.5\/4 points. <strong>WFM Sofia Blokhin<\/strong> was second with 2.5 points while Marina Levchenko and Lidia Ivanova tied for third with 2 points, each. The open tournament was played as a 10-player round-robin and the women&#8217;s championship featured 5 players who competed in 5 rounds (round-robin system).
